This news just made my day. Feeling Nostalgic. Mixed feeling to get it right. Proud to say that i did Engineering in VTU University India. Felt bad that nothing of this sort happened while i was pursuing my degree. But a great news for a fresh start.

Nokia VTU Research is a collaborative project funded by NOKIA.
NOKIA has been supporting many research projects on their open source MAEMO platform. The project comprises of VTU NOKIA Network labs at three affiliated colleges where there is abundant interest in Mobile Learning Research.
Under this project Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore, K L E’s College of Engineering, Belgaum and REVA Institute of Technology & Management, Bangalore have been supplied with the necessary hardware and software to create a research facility. The VTU e-Learning Centre is the single window contact for all NOKIA related projects under VTU. The vision of this project is to empower the students with latest open source technologies suitable for application development on NOKIA range of devices. Specifically the objective is to enable the students gain wide range of skills and knowledge and develop innovative applications. VTU e-Learning Centre has initiated workshops on QT & MAEMO to provide the initial technical knowledge to the student community. There is a collaborative learning between the three networked colleges. In the first year, there have been five innovative projects implemented on N810 and N900 devices. NOKIA supports with finance, devices and technical know how. There exists opportunities for skilled students get internships at Nokia NRC, Bangalore facility. The VTU e-Learning Centre organizes several workshops on forth coming technologies to keep student up to date.
