This will drain ur battery too quick. Handle with care. Don’t try to mess up the phone if you’re not sure of how2 do it.

So people have started overclocking their N900 with custom kernels. The device is way smoother when a heavy app runs in background, and the browser is now perfectly usable. It’s lightning fast now! 800MHz seems to be stable, better increase the frequency in small steps. However the CPU life will significantly decrease. Only overclock it if you are planning to have your device for 4 years or less.

Use it at your own risk! I’m not responsible for whatever happens to your device. Thanks to Lehto at maemo.org forum.

Lehto wrote:I CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR WHATEVER HAPPENS AFTER YOU’VE DOWNLOADED THE FOLLOWING FILE. YOUR ON YOUR OWN. THE DEVICE COULD BE RENDERED BROKEN, USELESS OR SOME OTHER WAY LIMITED!!! ALSO NO HELP WILL BE PROVIDED BY ME TO FLASH IT TO YOUR PHONE.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

^ This kernel isn’t available for _A GOOD REASON_ just yet

Download the current kernels
Download mirror (600, 700, 750, 800 and 900MHz)

Instructions

Add the zImage in the same folder as the flasher3.5.exe
Switch the N900 to update mode (power off, hold the U key, plug in USB cable) then run the command:

flasher-3.5 -k zImage -f -R

zImage being the entire name of your zImage e.g.
flasher-3.5 -k zImage-900mhz -f -R
