Nokia Asha 200 – First Look
First look of my favorite Asha phone!
The Nokia 200 Asha is an S40 device that was announced back at Nokia World in 2011. Asha series of devices are designed keeping in mind the emerging markets such as India. Asha is a Hindi term which means ‘Hope’.
Folks who worked on Asha series are a bunch of amazing and passionate people, I can tell that as I’ve had couple interactions with them.
This stunningly cute device has a dual-SIM support, one of best QWERTY keyboard, microSD card slot with support upto 32GB and a 2MP camera.
SIM switching is pretty easy with one touch key, messaging shortcut D-pad, call & end key, options & back key. Simple design yet, new breed. Also, sending and receiving messages, web browsing and calls is totally customizable, meaning we can select preferred sim to get them done.
QWERTY keypad is a real comfy one.
Mini charging port, 3.5mm audio port and micro USB port on top of the device.
Device has a 2.4″ screen, supports only 2G. 2-megapixel camera is simple. And that’s the loud speaker shown above.
1 SIM and microSD card are hot-swappable. And what is most impressive about the device is it’s 1430mAh battery and appealing design.
Under direct sunlight, impressive, ain’t ye?
So, what’s nice about the phone? – It’s a solid device and is a looker, plus the amount of work that can pulled be out of the battery are something like getting 7 hours talk time, 888 hours standby and up to 52 hours for music playback. No surprise. It’s a Nokia! The UI is simple. Visiblity under direct sunlight is impressive.
What’s not nice? No 3G support and it’s internal memory is too small.
