Nokia Asha 200, Asha 300 lands in India!
Launched at Nokia World event, London in October. Yesterday Nokia announced their Asha series of phones India. Nokia Asha 300 and Asha 200 are powered by 1Ghz processors running S40 OS. These phones are designed to connect the next billion! Mostly the Indian and African consumers.
Asha in Hindi means Ray of Hope!
Nokia has announced a range of budget phones, smart. These phones are destined to do something – Connect the next billion to the internet. Affordable way. These phones caters to users of various kind, like the social networking freaks, heavy texters. These range of devices here are designed to perfection, no compromise on features nor the choice or material. Solid build and Nokia’s trust are things these phones carry!
The 200 and 201 are one and the same except the fact that 200 is a dual-SIM phone while the 201 isn’t. These both phones has the class leading loudspeaker. QWERTY keyboard on these phones are designed keeping in mind the young! Nokia have incorporated the popular WhatsApp messenger into these phones. Both devices will also have up to 32GB on-board storage.
Asha 303, a 1GHz touch and type device with a 2.6? capacitive touchscreen with QWERTY keypad. Features a 5MP camera, Nokia’s cloud-based browser that compresses web content up to 90% to reduce data consumption. Comes pre-loaded with Angry birds.
Not to forget, Nokia Asha 300 also arrives preloaded with Angry Birds. First time on any S40 device. It also includes a 5 MP camera, a music player, FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, expandable memory slot support of 32GB.

Both phones will be compatible with Nokia’s ‘unlimited music service’.
Launching the service, Shivakumar said, “Nokia has been synonymous with digital music in this country. We have pioneered many initiatives in this space starting with pre-installed music, launch of music albums on mobile phones and then ‘Nokia music unlimited’ for our hi-end phones. Our latest offering on feature phones underscores our commitment to democratise music by taking it to the masses.”
Nokia has lost most of its share to the low end players like you know who. Micromax, G5, etc. Their dual SIM compatible phones are doing much better than expected. Asha series of phones are capable of doing almost what today’s smartphones can do. Excited for them!
I have tried all the Asha series of devices at Nokia World and I was more than pleased. Always a big fan of budget phones!
‘Asha 200′ and the ‘Asha 300′ Touch and Type phones will be priced at Rs 4,759 and Rs 7409, respectively.
