2017 GMC Canyon Denali

Before its recent unveiling, rumors had been flying around
about a possible Denali on the Canyon lineup. Since every other
GMC model offers the upgraded and luxurious variant except the
Savanna van, it was only practical to hook up the Canyon with
unique exterior styling and posh interior styling cues of the
associated with Denali.

The automaker has also realized that the Denali trim accounts
for around 25% of GMC truck sales which shows that many
customers prefer the upscale look and feel.

2017 GMC Canyon Denali Exterior

Denalis are usually upgrades of standard models. The 2017 GMC
Canyon Denali will be offered in only the Crew Cab Body
form.  They usually feature visual updates.

The Denali trim does not result in major changes to the body.
In this case, the Canyon Denali comes with a bright mesh grille
which has a chrome touch. The grille which is juxtaposed to the
signature GMC lettering is flanked by HID headlights and LED
daytime running lights. The vehicle features chrome accents on
the mirror caps, side steps, fog lamp bezels, door handles,
bumpers and the polished exhaust tip.

The chrome accent continues on the Denali’s ultra-bright
20-inch machined aluminum wheels. These wheels are new to GMC.
The truck still has the same usability in hauling and towing.
The Denali will be offered in 6 different colors.

upholstery continues onto the dash board and is enhanced by
contrasting French stitching.

and the center console which adds a dose of luxury to the

Engine Specs and Performance

At this level, you won’t find the 2.5 L 4-cylinder unit,
rather, the Denali is powered by a 3.6 L, V6 engine as standard
and a 2.8 L Duramax turbodiesel engine as an option.

Both engines will be paired with a 6-speed automatic
transmission system. They truck will be offered in 2WD drive
mode though there is an option for 4WD..  The 3.6 L, V6
comes good with 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. The engine
allows the Canyon Denali to tow 7,000 pounds when properly
equipped. With 4 WD, the engine is EPA rated at 17 mpg city, 24
mpg on highway and 20 mpg on combined drives. The 2WD delivers
26 mpg EPA-estimated fuel economy rating.

On the other hand the 2.8 Duramax 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine
produces 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque despite its small
size.  The engine combined with 2WD is capable of pulling
7,700 pounds while the 4WD pulls 100 pounds less. 2WD models
are EPA rated at 22 mpg city, 31 mpg highway and 25 mpg on
combined drives. This rating is pretty impressive and makes the
Canyon together with the Chevrolet the first trucks to achieve
more than 30 mpg. However, a 4WD lowers EPA estimates to 20 mpg
city, 29 mpg on highway and 23 mpg on combined drives.

Price and release date

GMC has not announced its official price yet. Since the Denali
is the top-of-the-range model, it will cost more than the
Canyon’s current top trim (SLT) which starts at MSRP $ 34,000
and goes up to $ 40,000 with all options selected.

The Denali will thus have a starting price of around $41,900.
The automaker revealed that the 2017 GMC Canyon Denali will hit
