2016 Acura ILX

The maiden Acura ILX sedan was good looking but it failed to
back up its good looks with performance. This forced Acura to
go back to the drawing board. The automaker has introduced a
number of changes starting with the engine. The exterior and
interior styling has also been updated and the car will now be
able to engage its competitors with more gusto.

2016 Acura ILX Exterior

The new 4-door 2016 Acura ILX Sedan is offered in six equipment
levels which are the Base, Acura Watch Plus Package, Premium,
A-Spec Package, Premium and A-Spec package and the top
Technology Plus package.

The exterior design is more refined compared to the outgoing
model. The Acura will span 179.1 inches long, 70.6 inches wide
and stand at a height of 55.6 inches. There is a new front
fascia which features the automaker’s new signature grille
flanked by square-shaped jewel headlights.

The A-Spec package on both the Premium and Technology packages
adds a dose of aggressiveness with round fog lights which are
mounted on the flared lower air intakes. The A-Spec also
features sculpted side sills and a rear spoiler. The base model
will ride on 17-inch wheels while the A-Spec Package adds
18-inch wheels.

2016 Acura ILX Interior

The interior of the new 2016 Acura ILX is largely a carryover
from the outgoing model. However, there are a number of
improvements. The cabin will accommodate five passengers.
Standard features on the base model include; keyless entry and
ignition, leatherette upholstery, a tilt –and-telescoping
steering wheel, a 5-inch information display screen.

The base package also features sunroof, heated front seats with
8-way power driver’s seat and a fold-down rear seat. Other
features include a multi-view rearview camera, Bluetooth
connectivity, dual-zone climate control. The Acura also comes
with a 6-speaker sound system with USB/iPod audio interface, CD
player, Pandora radio and Siri Eyes Smartphone integration.

The Acura Watch Plus package adds adaptive cruise control,
automatic braking, forward collision warning, lane departure
warning, frontal collision mitigation, lane-keep assist and
road departure mitigation.

The Premium package on the other hand features the base
equipment and adds leather front seats, a 4-way power passenger
seat, rear cross-traffic alert, driver memory setting and
replaces the 5-inch information screen with a 8-inch one. The
package also features a 7-speaker audio system with satellite
radio, HD radio, Aha radio and Smartphone app integration.
Moving up, the Technology Plus Package features contents of the
Acura Watch Plus package as well as those of the Premium
package. It also adds a 10-speaker ELS audio system, a
navigation system and voice commands. A-Spec package can be
added to both the Premium and Technology Plus package. The
A-spec package adds simulated-suede seat inserts featuring
contrasting stitching.

Overall, the cabin is quieter thanks to use of thicker window
glass, more sound dampening and active noise cancellation.

Engine Specs and Performance

Under the hood of the 2016 Acura ILX will be a single
drive-train. The automaker has discarded the 2.0 L, 4-cylinder
unit which used to return 150 hp. The new engine is an improved
2.4 L, 4-cylinder unit that produces 201 hp and 180 lb-ft of
torque. The automaker has also discarded manual transmission
and the engine will be paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch
automatic transmission system.

The vehicle accelerates from 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds. In terms
of fuel economy, the Acura returns 25 mpg, 36 mpg, and 29 mpg
for city, highway and combined drives respectively.
